Don Theyken's Web SiteNow that I am retired I have nothing to do but sit around on my butt and think about all of the things I could be doing.
With so many options it is hard to decide what to do. So I just sit around and think and think. Actually I have taken a couple of photography classes at Washtenaw Community College, calling more English Country Dances at the Tuesday night English dance, writting a dance every now and then, still roasting coffee, and generally putzing around the house. I have been enjoying the photography classes a lot. Both of the instructors I had were very good, Amir Gamzu and Don Werthmann. I just finished a PhotoShop class with Don Werthmann. I will put my pictures from my portfolios on line shortly. But the best part of taking these classes are the new people I meet and looking at their pictures to see the way they see the world. The last class was great for that since we learned how to manipulate images. One's imagination or lack thereof was the only limt. I will put some of my pictures online as time permits. Check out my photographs. I am still calling dances, Contra Dances on the second Saturday of the month, September through May and English Country dance on, more or less random, Tuesdays. You can check the schedule on the AACTMAD web site. Look for the events calendar. It feels good to be calling English Country dances again. My work kept me out of town a lot so I was not able to call on Tuesdays. Over the years I have written a few dances and they are available online.
